Hi Friends!
I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday weekend! I have gotten to spend time with some great friends as well as my family, two things that are extremely important to me. There have definitely been times when I have forgotten to be thankful for weekends like this... and the last thing I want to do is take time for granted.
As a kid, I loved to pray. I went to church every Sunday (often reluctantly), said my prayers at dinner, and every night before bed. I had a really strong relationship with God, and we had constant communication. =)
As I got older, and life started to get harder, I found myself getting lazy. I wasn't questioning my faith, or my relationship with God, I was simply tired. I'm not sure what it was... if it was guilt, or stress, or depression... but there were days when I just didn't care to pray anymore.
I don't know which light switch flipped for me to realize that it didn't matter what I thought about myself... or what other people thought about me... God was going to love me anyway, and that was all I needed- to remind myself of His unconditional love.
Today's song comes from Miranda Lambert. It's a catchy little tune that reminds us all of the unconditional love and understanding that comes from above.
"I ain’t the kind you take home to mama
I ain’t the kind to wear no ring
Somehow I always get stronger
When I’m on my second drink
Even though I hate to admit it
Sometimes I smoke cigarettes
Christian folks say I should quit it
I just smile and say “God bless”
‘Cause I heard Jesus, He drank wine
And I bet we’d get along just fine
He could calm a storm and heal the blind
And I bet He’d understand a heart like mine
Daddy cried when he saw my tattoo
Said he’d love me anyway
My brother got the brains of the family
So I thought I’d learn to sing
‘Cause I heard Jesus, He drank wine
And I bet we’d get along just fine
He could calm a storm and heal the blind
And I bet He’d understand a heart like mine
I’ll fly away
From it all one day
I’ll fly away
These are the days that I will remember
When my name’s called on the roll
He’ll meet me with two long-stemmed glasses
Make a toast to me coming home
‘Cause I heard Jesus, He drank wine
And I bet we’d get along just fine
He could calm a storm and heal the blind
And I bet He’d understand a heart like mine
Oh, yes He would"
Day 4: Take the time to appreciate yourself for all of your flaws... He does.
Love True,
Allison
